Hotel of Battambang

In the late 70s, when removing the Khmer regime, a young boy, named Kim Nou, frequently made trips to the Tonle Sap Lake to fish with others in the same village. One day, while they were on their way to the lake, the oxcart wheel broke. A family nearby rushed to hand them a special type of wood used to manufacture the trolley wheels. It is with natural hospitality and intent that the family invites everyone to their table to eat once the wheel is fixed. They sit together before cooked meals and offer them with love, as if they were all family. Obviously, in rural Cambodia, mutual aid and conviviality are values that we share.

We have just left after the most lovely 2 nights at this gorgeous hotel. From the moment you walk in to the grounds you feel an immense calm and peace. The buildings are traditionally wooden on stilts & blend in to the surrounding trees & plants with a beautiful water lily pond in the center. Our room was just lovely with super soft pillows and very comfortable bed...

A wonderful little oasis. Stayed here for a few nights in October and it was a joy. All the staff were so friendly, welcoming and keen to help in anyway they could. The rooms situated in amongst lush vegetation were very spacious and well cared for. I like the fact that coffee was available at all times in the restaurant area rather than providing wasteful little packets. The hotel is a little outside of the main town but easily accessible by tuk tuk...

This was the hotel stay we enjoyed the most on our recent trip through Cambodia and into N Vietnam. MWK - for us - was a magical destination offering the best of proximity to town, but with a uniquely rural/jungle ambience. The room was fabulous, the massage was refreshingly unforgiving, the coffee was the best tasted on tour and the people were every bit as fabulous as all other aspects...
